Battle of the Gap

Looking at these beautiful pictures of Georgia May Jagger by Hedi Slimane for the November 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, I noticed I’ve been seeing a lot of models with this cute little teeth gap recently.
Not to mention Brigit Bardot, Venessa Paradis & of coarse Madonna which i consider three of the most beautiful influential women in the industry have gapped teeth too.
Here are the top 3 new faces in modeling world which have been taking it by storm.
Which gapped toothed beauty do u prefer?

Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

While I was in Amsterdam in late August, I made sure to visit the FOAM Gallery. Its main Gallery staged a retrospective "Pretty Much Everything – photographs 1985-2010" featuring over 300 photographs spanning Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin’s 25 year career together.
Inez & Vinoodh are a Dutch couple who have been taking outstanding photographs since 1985.
Honestly Ive known just a little about them before going to FOAM, but little did i know that almost all the ad campaigns, editorials or magazine covers that have left an impact on me were by this duo.
From YSL, Cavalli, Versace, Herve Leger, Balenciaga, Isabel Marant, Gucci & Moschino to name a few to Bjork's new album cover, their bold & innovative approach is consistent. They have also created ground-breaking editorial shots for American, French, and Italian Vogue, V and many portraits forThe New York Times Magazine.
Check out some of my favorite works of theirs....
also check out the video of the duo talking about their work.

Blondie

Ive wondered about the one shouldered grey dress Debbie Harry wore in "Heart of Glass" 1978 video since I can remember. Ive always loved that song & her look in that video in particular. The dress, the 2 toned messy bob (very now) & the perplex heels (checkout Prada's SS2010).
But when i found out that the video was shot at Studio 54 & her outfit & styling was by Stephen Sprouse (adore him), i think i just fell in love with it all over again.
Apparently Stephen was a close friend of Blondie's & has designed all her outfits since 1976.
To create this dress, Sprouse photo-printed a picture of television scan lines onto a piece of fabric, and then, according to Blondie, "put a layer of cotton fabric underneath and a layer of chiffon on top, and then the scan-lines would do this op-art thing"

Digital Wallpaper

What do you get when you have complete freedom for creative thinking by your client?
A project worthy of the "Ambient Design" Creative Club Award in Austria. Strukt, a design studio out of Vienna, Austria, developed a fun, creative and practical design solution for virtually any surface.
The designers of Strukt Studio began to project light on the black and white striped office wall of Büro Hirzberger in Vienna. Playing with the scale and linear divisions of the partition, the program of light began to take shape and form as the images of light danced over the wall. Not only do the stripes move, but the project also includes a playful interaction of pac man moving across the created screen.
Cool!

BIBA is Back

The most glorious London fashion retailer of the 60's and 70's, Biba was the totally original brainchild of Polish born Barbara Hulanicki, a skilled fashion drawer-turned- designer. The Biba business had humble beginnings. Starting off as a mail-order boutique with a few cheap garments cut all to the same tiny size, but then these designs took off in a big way.
The first store opened, in Kensington in 1964, became a huge hit as the young and fashionable flocked to pick up the cheap, wearable and devastatingly cool fashions. Biba went from strength to strength opening a massive "Big Biba" in 1974 at the seven storey Derry & Toms department store. The shop had a luxuriant art deco interior more suited to a 30's film set than a 70's store. Big Biba sold everything- Mens, womens and children's clothing, groceries, shoes, make-up, accessories, playing cards, souvenirs and more. There was even a roof garden with live flamingos!

Biba later closed in 1975 due to poor organization & financial difficulties.
After a couple of failed relaunches for BIBA in 2006 & 2007, House of Fraser bought the company in November 2009 for a second relaunch by an in-house design team announcing Daisy Lowe as the new face of the label in an attempt to return to its high-street roots.
The collection launched 9th of September & i was lucky enough to witness the unveiling.
I loved the collection, lots of velvets, feathers, prints & hats in typical BIBA style.
Here are a few of my fave pieces.

Madonna Again Unedited

Some un-retouched photos leaked 2 days ago for the Winter 2011 Dolce&Gabbana womenswear campaign photoshoot by Steven Klein. Madonna plays a sexy Italian housewife.
Im not loving the campaign, it lacks inspiration & looks like something Ive seen before alot.
Loved the LV bunny eared campaign so much more.
Check out the veins on her hand & biceps that were totally retouched for the release.
Also check out the behind the scenes video.
